Leafy Bullet Rustem Leafy Bullet
GSB #548

Color: Bay
Sex: Stallion

Sire: Astraled (Mesaoud x Queen of Sheba)

Dam: Ridaa (Merzuk x Rose of Sharon by Hadban)

Breeder: Crabbet Arabian Stud. Sussex, England.

Sire of 25 registered purebred Arabian foals (14 colts and 11 fillies) including his daughters *Ferda and Rayya who have both had significant mid-pedigree influence in our breeding program at Arieana Arabians.

From our Arieana Notebook: Rustem, foaled at Newbuildings and the property of Wilfrid S. Blunt, was one of Blunt's favorite stallions. A bay with a few white hairs on his forehead and no other white markings, Rustem was favorably compared to *Haleb in style and quality by Charles Hayden, agent for W.R. Brown, at a time in 1918 when Rustem was under consideration for purchase by Brown. Although that sale to Brown did not come to fruition, Mr. Blunt did eventually sell Rustem to Egypt in 1920, and we know Rustem was still alive in 1932 when E.S. Humphrey, then manager of W.R. Brown's Maynesboro Stud and visiting Egypt on behalf of Brown, saw him there, reporting to Brown that Rustem at age 24 had gotten very low in the back and that his Egyptian foals were tied-in at the knee. Here at Arieana Arabians, we are grateful that these traits did not perpetuate into the next generations as we diligently trace back for inheritable traits and qualities in our pedigrees through his lovely English-bred daughters *Ferda and Rayya and their descendants.
