From our Arieana Notebook: Ronek was a product of the Kellogg Ranch breeding program and sold as a weanling to a buyer from St. Louis, Missouri, then sold as a yearling to General J.M. Dickinson. We at Arieana Arabians especially appreciate Ronek's influence mid-pedigree in our own bloodstock for his ability to pass on his natural inclination for gaiting (see photo above)  ~ a natural talent and ability that was recognized and brought out in him through enhancement training while living and standing at stud for General J.M. Dickinson's Travelers Rest Arabian Stud.

In addition to his duties under saddle and at stud for General Dickinson, Ronek was the champion Arabian stallion and winner of the saddle class, Illinois State Fair 1937 and also a prize winner at the 1935 Arabian Show in Nashville, Tennessee. Notes on the details of Ronek's interim life are lacking, but we do know that by 1952 Ronek was back in California under the guidance of Dr. and Mrs. Kemp Dowdy of Novato, California (see photo from ad above). He then went to E.E. Hurlbutt's Calabria Ranch in Calabasas, California and seems to have spent his last days in the company of Witez II.

Though now deceased for quite some time, Ronek, considered the best of the great *Raseyn's sons, is still remembered by those who knew him for his style, elegance, dazzling action at the trot, and brilliant five-gaited performances, and today the name of Ronek is still treasured and sought after in pedigrees for his ability to have passed those traits on to his foals. At Arieana Arabians we delight as we see those same traits in our own horses as they have descended to us through Ronek's lovely daughter Hawija.
