Rijm is also sire of the gallant gelding *Crabbet

|
From
our Arieana Notebook: Rijm, translated from the Arabic,
means "cairn of stones". Used extensively as a sire at
Crabbet before his exportation to Spain in 1910, Rijm was unusually tall for an Arabian, standing 15.3
HH. Rijm's
influence as a sire extends throughout many parts of the world,
and he must be considered one of the great historic stallions of
the breed. Perhaps Lady Anne Blunt herself summarized this
stallion best when she wrote in her Journal: "Rijm
has come [to Crabbet from Newbuildings]. The horse is splendid
and I am only too happy to have got him. He really is
magnificent."

|
From
our Arieana Notebook: *Rijma was part of a group of 17 Arabians imported
in 1918 from the
Crabbet Stud of Wilfrid Blunt by W.R. Brown for his Maynesboro Stud, Berlin, New
Hampshire. *Rijma has been described by Carol Mulder as
"...beautiful and typy with marked Arabian style and
character." Although she was very thin from the near
starvation conditions caused by the
feed shortages in England during World War I, *Rijma did arrive safely at Maynesboro and
was already in foal to Wilfrid Blunt's stallion Ibn
Yashmak; the
foal colt *Rizvan was born the following Spring on March 27, 1919. Life and
conditions were much better for *Rijma with Mr. Brown and
she thrived at Maynesboro producing for him five
more foals, of which her son Ribal by
*Berk
and daughter Raad are also of
importance to us at Arieana Arabians ~ all for the superb qualities
they passed on down to their foals through their succeeding generations. *Rijma's
last owner of record was P.H. McManus of Dover, New Hampshire;
date of sale: April 6, 1931 when *Rijma was almost 20
years old. *Rijma was reported as dead in the 1937
Arabian Horse Registry's Stud Book.
