From
our Arieana Notebook: *Nessa, a mare of merit, was
imported to the United States as a weanling in October, 1905 by
Spencer Borden, Fall River, Massachusetts. At that time Borden was
seeking to obtain more of the strain of Kehilan Ras-A-l Fadawi
which he greatly admired. In late 1916 or early 1917, *Nessa
was sold
to W.R. Brown of Berlin, New Hampshire, and for Brown's Maynesboro
Stud produced Tahdik,
a mare of influence mid-pedigree in Arieana's Arabians
through the magnificent stallion Tamarlane. *Nessa
was then sold again in 1921 to her last owner of record D. Bryant
Turner, Colorado Springs, Colorado where she produced for him her
last foal of record ~ an Anglo-Arab colt named Denessa.

From
our Arieana Notebook: *Nuri Pasha, whose beauty was in his
character and performance, was the favorite horse of Albert W.
Harris, the fourth president of the Arabian Horse Club and one
of the earliest breeders of Arabian Horses here in the United States.
Prior
to his importation by Mr. Harris in 1923, *Nuri Pasha was an
outstanding winner in colt classes in England winning 1st Place
and Champion in the Colt Classes at the 1921 and 1922 London Shows
and 2nd Place in the Stallion Class at the 1923 Royal Agricultural
Show, Newcastle. He was not shown here in the United States after
his importation.
With the exception of one breeding season
on loan to Major Henry Leonard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, *Nuri
Pasha spent the remaining days and years of his life with Harris at his
Kemah Farm, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. *Nuri Pasha died August
30, 1950, at age 30.
