From our Arieana Notebook: Purchased at the Crabbet Sale of 1900 by W.E. Holworthy who was acting as agent for Mr. Charles Hustud, *Bushra was at the time in foal with *Ibn Mahruss. Placed in Mr. Randolph Huntington's care upon her arrival to the United States, she foaled *Ibn Muhruss at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. By the time he was 5 years old, *Ibn Mahruss was owned by Homer Davenport who in his turn in 1908 sold him to Eleanor Gates of Alma, California. She in turn sold him to Anita M. Baldwin who evidently enjoyed him as a saddle horse, riding him both sidesaddle and astride as photos from that time indicate.

Sire of 8 registered purebred Arabian foals (6 colts and 2 fillies) including El Jafil who is of mid-pedigree influence in Arieana's Arabians. *Ibn Mahruss was 17 years old when he sired his last foal; we have no record of the date, circumstances, or place of death.

From our Arieana Notebook: Noted as a good mover, Ibn Yashmak descends entirely from the bloodlines of Ali Pasha Sherif. Bred by Lady Anne Blunt at Sheykh Obeyd, Ibn Yashmak was taken to England as a 2-year-old in September 1904. He was purchased by the Royal Agricultural Society and returned to Egypt in September, 1920, at age 18. Died April 12, 1927, at age 25.
