From
our Arieana Notebook: Harb become part of the stud of
Wilfrid S. Blunt at Newbuildings after the partition agreement
which resulted from the permanent separation of Wilfrid and Lady S.
Blunt after their 37 years of marriage. Although Lady Anne continued
to write in her Journals favoring the keeping of Harb for
his action and for his ability as a sire, Harb was sold
by Wilfrid at an auction without his pedigree (equivalent to
without papers) for only 13 guineas, an act that Lady Anne wrote
was "sheer lunacy." Thankfully the blood of this
handsome son of Mesaoud does
live on today in the horses of Arieana Arabians through Harb's
son *Rodan,
imported to the United States en utero by Spencer Borden in 1905.
