From
our Arieana Notebook: In Lebanon, *Arkane won every
race of his 17 starts over a two-year period from 7 furlongs to 1 1/2
miles. He was 11 years old at the
time of the 1947 Hearst Importation. *Arkane was a gift to Mr. William Randolph Hearst from Henri Pharoun, Foreign Minister of Lebanon. Mr. Hearst in turn
gifted him to the President of Mexico, Manuel Avila Camacho. According to
Bedouin tradition, only the finest horses were given away as gifts, for they had no
price.
Sire of 6 registered purebred
Arabian foals (2 colts and 4 fillies) before he was exported to
Mexico, none of which appear in the pedigrees of Arieana Arabians. |
